Have you tried subclassing the control? I'd have to do some tests to see exactly how to do it (and today is not going to be good for me for finding time to do it).

i tried to override the OnPaint event but it's not called in anyway ... strange!! so i have disassembled the combobox class and saw that in the WnProc() there's no calling the OnPaint event ...damn!! and i cannot override it because it has come internal methods and variables (of the Control class).
someone has a good idea to modify it?

i'm trying to get my own custom combobox.

I have to change the text colour when it is enabled = false, now it’s always gray!
