    How to use the license.key?

    Hello all,

I have been using the evaluation version of the Media Player Control for a while and i decided to buy the licensed edition to use in a mobile application I am developing right now.

A few days ago I bought a developer license for Media Player Control, uninstalled the evaluation and installed the licensed version. In Visual Studio, I added the license.key file as a resource (Resources > Add Resource > Add existing file).

However, when debugging or deploying the application I still get the 'This is an evaluation version' message in the Windows Mobile emulator. On my device the application tells me that my evaluation version has expired and quits (as it did before I purchased the license).

I tried removing and recreating the references to OpenNETCF.WindowsMobile.Media.dll but without luck.

I am using Visual Studio 2008 and the Media Player Control version is 1.0.3015.0. The project uses compact framework 3.5.

I am sure it's just a tweak or a setting somewhere, but I'm out of ideas. Can anyone please help?

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,

    Koen

I still can't get it to work properly, I'm getting the same messages on both the emulator and the device. Perhaps it's a bug, but before I report it as being so, I want to be sure that there's nothing that I've done wrong.

Any advice or an idea? Are there more developers having the same problem?

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Koen

    Hi Ronald,

Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to solve the problem. I had to suspend my project because of this, and I'm feeling a little disappointed about it.

Perphaps some insider can tell me (us ;-)) if the way i did it (described in the first post) is actually the right way to do it? I still think it is quite obvious, but I cannot get it to work.

What did you try to make it work, Ron?

    Regards, Koen

Re: How to use the license.key?

Hi Koen, yes, i was able to solve this problem ;-) Just include the license.key file as a file in your project esp. in the 'Properties' folder. You will find the file below AssemblyInfo.cs now. Then change the license.key file properties by clicking right. In the property sidebar you will find the entry BuildAction. Choose here 'Embedded Ressource' here. Now it works ;-) Hope this was helpful to you. Regards, Ronald
